31TE Fuel tank venting question

Post by Netbender »

Our 1997 31TE has been in the boatyard since April undergoing what has now become a pretty major refit. Swapping out the Peninsular diesels for Yammer 8LV-370's, new ZF68's, Reverso oil change system, tides shaft seals and Space Age Thermolite board bulkheads around new fuel tanks. I have a question for other 31TE owners regarding the fuel tank venting. We ordered 3 new tanks from Luther's however there is a slight difference in the venting in the outboard tanks compared to the originals in the boat. The new outboard tanks have 2 barbed vents each instead of the one each the old the old tanks had. I'm guessing this was a production change in later build boats. Our boat also originally had saddle tanks, with each saddle and outboard tank vented to independent hull fittings and the each center tank vent plumbed to a fitting on each side. 6 total, 3 on each side. We had already removed the saddle tanks because they leaked. The boatyard feels like the tank venting should be daisy chained together on each side, center tank port vent to one port tank vent and second port tank vent to a fitting and same on starboard side. I suggested they just connect each tank vent to a respective fitting. 6 fittings, 6 vents. I'm guessing the later build boats added an extra vent to the outboard tanks because of the lack of vents on the saddle tanks. How are your 31TE's tank vents plumbed?
