Sure enough, it needed new brushes. I don't know yet what else it needed - hope to have an update on that within a few days. But the motor is back in the boat, and we went for a ride this evening. When returning to the dock, there was a light crosswind. Before the rebuild, the bow thruster wouldn't have been able to move the bow against the wind. Now it seems to have more oomph. Put that baby in the slip just like she had twin screws.

A few more dockings like this and I'll call the project an unqualified success.
