transom mount transducer

I have a Hawkeye depth sounder in the box that came with our new 25. I was wondering if anyone has installed the transom style transducer on their Albin 25. I've read that these are best installed on outboards and stern drives. If it works, where is a good place on the transom to install one?

The problem faced by an inboard engined boat using a transom mounted transducer is that the prop wash is going to interfere with it's ability to cleanly pick up the bottom/fish/etc. An outboard or I/o doesn't have this issue as the prop is aft of the transducer. So for this to work you'd want to be fairly far out from center on the "downward" side of the prop. You also need to see what's forward of your mounting position, make sure there aren't any thru hulls to mess up the water flow.

I'll think I will wait until I can see where the turbulence lives before I install one. Thank you for the tip regarding the placement, especially about the "downward side of the prop".
