A-25 Steering Knuckle & Ball Replacement Parts

Post by DaveP »

Some of you have wanted the part number for replacing the nylon/plastic steering knuckle on the A-25. The replacement comes from Teleflex and is called an "Inboard Clamp Block," the part number is SA27578P.

The new knuckle looks very sturdy, as you can see in the attached picture, and is made of aluminum. The only modification needed for the original Teleflex steering cable is to fabricate a bushing to fit inside the clamp around the cable. The original cable is a smaller diameter than the new cables, so you need a bushing in order for the clamp to tighten on the original cable. A simple, short length of tubing with a lenghwise cut in it did the trick for my installation.

Dave,
Thanks for your help. I replaced my broken clamp with one from Bergeron and it works great. I broke my clamp while tightening bolts - and the nylon clamp split on me. New one is much stronger. Now the boat will go where I point it!
